I have a nice Pioneer Stereo Amplifier that is completely black.
Why is it and most Japanese electronic equipment black?
I read that it is because the Japanese love the colour black, and so we buy from them and end up with electronic equipment in their favourite colour.
In the advertising image of my Amp light is shone upon the front so that the buttons and so on shine and you can see them clearly. But alas, in real life it is a different story.
The buttons on the Pioneer Amp when in use in my room next to my computer are not obvious.
To solve this problem I bought some stickers to place on the buttons. They look neat and tidy.
In the Image above, you can see the Amplifier under the Akai Cassette Deck, which is also from japan and yes, it is black as well as are so many of their electronics equipment for the home.
I added the (glow in the dark) stickers to the Power button on the left, next to it a small sticker to the “Speakers A/B” button, and more to the Selector Buttons.
The stickers are “children’s glowing the dark”wall stickers. The reason I decided to buy them was that they come in many sizes, which suits different button sizes.
Now I can see the buttons easily, even in the dark – such as when watching a movie and wanting to may sound adjustments.
It occurred to me that I could also add about 4 small stickers (there is no big sticker) to the big volume knob, such as in a “+” shape so that the big black volume knob can be seen in the dark as well.
You should also be able to get stickers of many colours and sizes, such as steel coloured, silver and so on.
All the best from
