Strengthen Your Fingers!

During the 1990’s an old man came into an office and I was introduced to him and he gleefully crushed my hand when we shook hands.
I was genuinely surprised at his strength.
He bent my ego a tad and I realized that I needed to strengthen my fingers and hand grip.

I remembered that in Martial Arts in China they use Pots or Clay Jars filled with water, sand, dirt and such to make them heavy and they would lift the pots with only their fingertips.
I wanted to do this as well, yet I had no pots or clay jars that would be useful for this.

So I came up with my own idea that I have been using ever since.

I got two concrete blocks like the photo shows above and walk in between them and bend my knee’s until I can pick each one up in the center-piece with only my fingertips. And then I walk across the back section with them at waist height, come back and then put them down.

This is also good for the legs and shoulders and general strength as well.

After doing this a while I shook a mans hand when I was introduced to him and he claimed that I has crushed his hands.
I felt no change, but people made comments that I had a strong handshake.

So I had to purposely try to be gentle as I had gotten so used to holding with my fingertips that my fingers had become very strong, and I had a very strong grip.

If you find the big blocks too much of a challenge starting out you can use smaller half-blocks to start off with until you are used tot hem and then move on to the bigger blocks.

Its a lot of fun, and it is nice to know that when you grab something that you have a grip that holds on strong and firm.
