Ceiling Clothes Hanger.

When I had a wife and children in the house we found that there was little room for hanging clothes.

So I made my wife a Ceiling Clothes Hanger for her to put her work clothes on.

It was basic but very useful.

got 2 of the large hooks like the ones in the hand above and screwed one in the ceiling by a wall.

I then bought some dowel about the length of a broom, and the same thickness or a bit thicker in width and a holes in it at each end.

And then measured the distance from one hole to the other and measured that out from the hook in the ceiling and screwed the other hook there.

Then I pushed the hooks through the holes in the dowel.

The hooks went through the dowel like this.

I could have got hooks that the dowel could sit in and then no need for holes, but the hooks going through the dowel meant that it would not move (spin).

Normal clothes hangers would be hung on the dowel, and this was especially helpful for dry cleaned clothing or what had just come off the clothes line.

It also meant that the children could not get their hands on their mothers work clothes.

This is a simple designed, but served its purpose for about 6-7 years.

I have no photos of this set up and that is why I made the drawings.

Simple, but effective.

All the best from
