It is important to remember that when we are stressed, and/or feel fearful, depressed etc that we should encourage ourself, speak positively to ourself, and be gentle on ourself.
If we are too hard on ourself then we can feel even more defeated from the added pressure. And if we push ourself too hard we can cause anxiety and additional stress that we would not of had if we had been more careful.
If you were running or cycling and you hurt your foot, you would immediately treat that hurt foot for more tenderly.
You know from experience that being hard on an injury only makes the injury worse.
If you are training for a sport you should not start calling yourself bad names or putting yourself down because of the injury to your foot.
You know that the positive way is to treat the foot tenderly, be focused, and positive and hopeful of a good healing. You may rest the foot for a while, giving it time to get over the injury.
You may also learn from the injury and find out what caused the injury. And positively you will make sure that doesn’t happen again.
If you are in a sport, then your priority is to get back to that sport, but fully cured so that you can enjoy your sport again.
If the sports person gets angry and frustrated it will take longer to heal the injury because they will probably do something foolish with the foot, or not take care of it properly.
It is the same when times get tough. If we are positive then we can think better and clearer, and then do what is right so that we can get back to a happy life again.
Pushing ourself too hard, negative self talk, anger etc all cause defeat and hinder our success.
So please take it easy on yourself. Be encouraging, be helpful to yourself, look for answers, be positive about a good outcome.
We all have down times, they will pass, and then we will get back to a active positive life the sooner the better.
All the best from James M Sandbrook.
