The idea of gambling being good for donations and society

The idea of gambling being good for donations and society was to make sure that the gambler didn’t let that tiny bit of doubt that keeps trying get a strong hold in the gamblers mind succeeding.

So the seduction that “gambling brings good honest returns to the community” has the gambler falsely believing that his or her gambling is something good that others will gain from, even if the gambler loses their hard earned cash.

Much like they did in the 1950s and 1960s when they knew that ciggerettes caused illness and cancer, so for the love of money they convinced the public that smoking was healthy and a good decent pastime.
There are videos of the old TV advertising showing just this.

When the gambler walks into the gambling place and is welcomed with a hearty smile and friendship this is a part of the seduction. The owners know that many people are lonely and long for a place of friends and good times, so some alcohol to weaken the logical mind, and lots of laughter and encouragement the gambler is a sitting duck and as the night rolls on money is spent on alcohol (which weakens the gamblers thinking abilities) and gambling and the owners of the joint smack their lips with the constant flow of cash.

The gambler leaves with that “feel-good” feeling and wants to go back soon to the place where the people of like-minded-seduction all gather for another night of highs and what they have been seduced into thinking is fun.

The trouble is that the very expensive unfair transferring of cash has the gambler and their family largely out of cash for the normal life expenses.

Yet, the successful seduction has them thinking that these night outs are a must and worth the cash and time.

The only winners are the politicians and the owners of the gambling places. Certainly not the public.

All the best from James Martin Sandbrook.
