In Genesis we find Adam and Eve.

In Genesis we find Adam and Eve.

As a lesson this is an amazing story, Two people under the care of God.
When they realized that they had done wrong they hid from God. Jonah did the same, he hid from God. It didn’t do any of them any good whatsoever. God is omnipresent

We can’t hide from God no matter where we go. We are just fooling ourselves if we think that we can hide.

Psalm 139, verses 7-8: Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
Because we cannot see God, God will use a person or people to be seen and known as in His favour and they will be His examples on Earth to the multitudes. God’s people are often misunderstood and treated badly by lost people confused about God and what is happening around them. Fear tends to make them foolish and prone to making foolish rash decisions.
Back to the book of Genesis, Chapter 3. Adam and Even were guilty and they new it. They had done wrong and they were trying to hide from God. Jonah tried to get away from God as well, he tried to hide and he couldn’t.

Deuteronomy Chapter 6, verse 24- 25: And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.
When people become prideful, educated etc they believe that they are doing things for their own life that is best for themself. Only God can do that because we have a common enemy that wants to destroy our life, love, faith and happiness.

God gave Adam and Eve clear instructions. They knew His ways. They had been taught well. They were good people, good and decent. Then with a little temptation they lost it all. They fell in disgrace. The Bible says to resist the devil and he will flee from us. This can come in many ways, such as temptations from friends who are guided not from God, temptations in our own mind when we entertain naughty thoughts that will bring our downfall. Eve should have cut the conversation off. Through trickery, clever words, what seems like educated talk, lies dressed up well to disguise the truth from us, and many other ways evil convinces us and fools us. We must always be on guard and in good company. Trust God.
Adam and Eve hid in shame and they didn’t want to face the consequences. They more than likely hoped (like Jonah) to get away from it all – to be set free from what was bothering them, to even be free of God to some degree. We must do our best to obey God and face the fact that we cannot hide.
Through friendships, family, education, TV, movies and other sources we can be tempted away from God and good living.

Hebrews Chapter 4, verse 12: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
We are weakened by listening to wrong conversation, from wrong guidance, from non godly sources. We compromise, we make excuses, we in our own minds ‘fake a need to go astray’ trying to convince ourselves that it is the best thing for us in the long run. We may feel or people may say that following God will take away our fun times, this is so very untrue because good fun time is with good family and good fellowship. We can agree with evil to walk away from God but without God’s care and guidance be aware what can happen to those not walking with God. We should fear not having God’s guidance.

James Chapter 4, verse 7: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Eve wanted to fulfill the desires of her flesh by taking the fruit, she wanted to be wise and to do this she had to deny God and believe evil, she was willing to walk away from God and fellowship with evil. By doing what Adam and Eve did they saw sin and found weakness and much more. Their regret must have been very very deep.
1 John Chapter 1, verse 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Get right with God. Get right with people that we have wronged. Be aware that if we have done wrong that we cannot escape that, God wants us to put it right what we have done wrong. We cannot hide from God and being busy or in the crowd with lots of noise and such will not hide us from God. If you have something to do that God wants you to do don’t be like Jonah and run away, stand firm in the faith and do as God wishes you to do, it is the best thing for you.
