A good way to clear the head is to think of something else.

One way to stop thoughts at bed time can be to breathe for about 8 breathes and one reach second imagine the number you are counting (1,2,3,4…) and then say it in your mind. If negative thoughts are trying to beat you down they cannot get a word in because you have drowned them out.

Breath out through the mouth and do the same thing count, imagine each number and take control of your mind.
By the time you are finished counting, if you do this right, your mind will be clear. If the worries and negative thoughts come back do the breathing and counting again. if you can keep it up, you will win.

I was only ever once able to meditate, never able to do it again.
According to Christians meditating means thinking about something carefully and chewing over in your mind its meaning/s.
What I mention above is the breaking the negative thought patterns that take control of our minds and cause us to be anxious or to have fears.
Fear is good, it frightens us into action when their is genuinely something to be afraid of. But modern people have grown up in a non-healthy environment and this weakens the soul. Many of us have suffered depression, anxieties, fears, worries, and most of it, about 99% doesn’t exist and never will. We just let our overactive imaginations take control and terrorize us from the inside.
But if we can find ways to break the negative train of thought then all of a sudden the fears and anxiety disappears immediately. Once we get into the habit of breaking the negative train of thoughts we gin more and more control of our mind and face our fears with some apprehension at first, but in time with genuine ease.
