A Pocket Wall Organiser.

I called this A Pocket Wall Organiser. because I have no idea what they are really called, maybe it is called this.

During the year 2004, I went to Wanganui for a church trip and we stopped at a second-hand store coming back to Tokoroa where I live. I bought my daughter Grace a real nice dress which fit her perfectly and I bought my son a Pocket Wall Organiser. We put it on a all at home and he put items in it, like toys, pens, pencils, all sorts of things.

As a sewing project this can be very simple and easy or very complex. My son’s Pocket Wall Organiser was fancy with shape and designs on the pockets and a fancy background material.

As a beginner one can just take some material and sew some pre-made pockets onto it of a size that you think will be useful for you. See Image 1.

First Pocket Project gives a simple lesson on how to make a simple pocket.
To make a Pocket Wall Organizer you put many pockets on a sheet of material and then put that on a wall.

For sewing alone this could be a great addition to the sewing room because the pockets can be used for holding your sewing items. Material is rather flimsy so to make it more sturdy look at Image 2.

At the top of the Pocket Wall Organizer we see in Image 2 a length of wood has been put across the top that can be screwed or nailed into a wall and the Pocket Wall Organizer hung from it.

There are various ways that this can be done, for instance the top of the Pocket Wall Organiser can be folded over and sewn and the pole inserted into it across the top and the whole Pocket Wall Organiser hangs from this.

To make the Pocket Wall Organiser stand out you can add yellow or brown pockets, or pockets with certain patterns, or object like cars, flowers, pictures, for a family version each member of the family could have their name on it, or a photo of each family member.

The pockets can be of any size, you could put one big pocket in the middle, or a row of big pockets at the top and smaller ones for the next 2-3 rows. Your imagination and what you want this for will guide you. Have fun.

This can be a fun project, where one can be very creative and in the end have something very useful in the house, classroom (Each student could make a pocket for their own school items), and so on.

All the best from
