Guitar Plectrum Punch - Review.

My sister who is with a guitar player in a band in Tauranga mentioned that she wanted to try a Guitar Plectrum (pick) Punch, also known as a DIY Guitar Pick Maker. Basically it makes guitar picks from thin plastic and you can get rather creative with these using various types of plastic.

If you had a class of guitar players this would be great to cut out many guitar picks. They are not cheap to buy, so making your own anytime you want has a certain attraction to buying one, and in fact, that is why I bought mine.

I first bought my sister for her guitar playing. She told me that she thought it was a great idea after testing hers, so I bought one for me as well.

The bottom has a cutout hole shaped like a Guitar Pick and this is where the picks pop out after being cut. Some of the Guitar Plectrum Punch’s on the market come with a few sheets of thin plastic that you can use to make many picks with but all of the same width as far as I can tell.

I got some credit cards and used them, and they come out fine. I also got the flat sides of plastic containers and tried them out and they cut out fine as well, and unlike the sheets of plastic that you get with the Guitar Plectrum Punch if you find your own plastic you can get different widths to your picks and even different shapes.

In one case I used a slightly curved side of a dishwashing bottle and the picks came out with the curve on them, they sound great and are thicker. I don’t really like thin guitar picks.

Here are some of the ones I have cut. Old credit cards work fine for this, they fit easily in the punch.

Before I got the Guitar Plectrum Punch I was always losing Guitar Picks, and probably vacuumed up plenty as well over the years, but now its no problem, I just keep making my own.

‘The Guitar Plectrum Punch is not expensive, and they pay themselves off with the savings over a few years.

Good value, especially if you are teaching a group of people and they lose their guitar picks regularly.

All the best from
