The Dead Sea Scrolls - a boy from the Bedouin tribe was herding goats
at the northwest end of the Dead Sea. The story goes that a goat wandered
into a cave and had decided to take refuge there. The Bedouin boy threw
a stone into the cave while trying to find the goat, and upon hearing the
sound of breaking pottery, which he wouldn't have expected, he went into
the cave to investigate the sound.
He found several jars containing different manuscripts that were wrapped in cloth. This is how the famous and historically important Dead Sea Scrolls were
found.
For example one of the manuscripts was a copy of Isaiah that was almost
1000 years older than any previously known. There was a commentary of Habakkuk
and more.
Many more manuscripts were found in other caves around that area. |
