Immersion
When the human brain is immersed into something that something becomes its main thoughts, and finally the minds beliefs.
Take a non religious person and put he or she in a loving religious home and there is a 50/50 chance of change and that person becomes a religious person as that family is. The positive energy, the good people, it all rubs off on an outsider and they can see the benefit of positive change in their life, and once the choice is made to be that religion then they immerse themselves into it ignoring past beliefs, thoughts and so on as they only think the religious thoughts of the family.
One of my daughters I came to think of as a Sponge. I noticed since her childhood that every environment/group of people she was in, she became like them. Her desire to fit in is so strong that to make those with her think that she is worthy she becomes like them (subconsciously), I doubt that she even knows that she is doing this.
We are all like this to some degree, but it can really weaken our thinking powers as we cast them aside to trying to please others and become like them, for the simple sake of being accepted by them.
The scientist has no thoughts of genuine empathy or spiritualness as they immerse themselves into logical material facts, statistics, mathematics, experimentations of which the scientist has full control of the experiment, and paper logic. Years and years of schooling that see’s nothing but paper school work, exams and so forth, practical experiments, known scientific data, mathematics, and then an adulthood that is proud to have chosen science, and a defiance that refuses to allow itself to see and common sense or logic in spiritualism, thus they remain blind while also experts “in their fields”.
To pass an exam one can immerse themself into the subject so much so that they live it in every hour of the day, but in doing so they cast aside or fail to see, recognize other realities all around them.
One of the wrongs of modern living is this immersion in study, beliefs and so on, because in doing so we ignore what is happening around us. Humans tend to be so good at a subject that they build up such a strong belief in themselves, their titles, and worth that they look down on others and won’t tolerate foolishness that they see in others, but are completely unaware of in themselves.
Egotistical Thinking can do the same. The person becomes rather narcissistic, and feels that they are clever, clever than most, powerful in their thinking, and they enjoy manipulating other people of whom they feel that they are mentally more powerful. The victims they control just feed their ego, and if the victims upset the manipulator types they can get very upset.
I have met narcissistic people get very upset and confused when they are challenged. It is almost as if that fairy tale they have of themselves to them is pure reality, and when they are challenged they become confused, angry and upset, because the manipulating plans that they have made are not working, that confuses them.
The gist of this article is that the more a human becomes immersed into a subject, the more the learn of it, and the more they become good or expert at it, but also the more their ego becomes filled with it and the more they cast out opposing beliefs and claims in favour of their own choices/beliefs.
The immersed mind seems to be proud, and confused why the rest of the world does not see the world as they do.
What the immersed mind does not understand is that while immersed (like immersed in water) they cannot react to, feel, see, or even notice the world around them, the only thing that they are conscious of is their own immersion-beliefs and nothing more.
The immersed mind can be very good at the subject they immersed their minds in, but seriously lacking an understanding of other subjects, even simple subjects or simple actions, such as Einstein was well known for wearing non-matching socks, his shirts buttoned up wrong, his hair a mess, as he was so into what he was working on “nothing else matters”.
Empathy is the opposite to apathy. The immersed mind, so heavily involved in its beliefs powered by ego and favoured and comforted with pride is apathetic.
Empathy is a noticing of everything, of the small, the tall, the weak, the rich, the poor, the animals, the situation as it really is.
People who are truly empathetic see far beyond the immersed mind, because they care for all, not just for themselves, and not just for their own family and friends.
