He didn’t say it was a joke, it was a warning to say that if you continue your sin/s you will pay for them.
Many people make excuses and try to exclude themselves from, “sin no more”, they try to find ways to explain why Jesus was not talking about he or she or them, and that, “sin no more” does not apply to them.
But it does apply to everyone alive. If your heart is right with God you won’t do that sin that has been a curse for you for so long.
‘Those that endure “until the end” shall be saved’

Are you enduring until the end, are you following God’s guidance? Or will you go out on a date tonight hoping to satisfy the cravings of the flesh?

Sin no more, means, “Sin No More!”

Another way of looking at it is that the ex-drug addict will suffer going back to the addiction, and so will you if you go back to the ways of the world and sin.
