When I go cycling I tend to get up, have a coffee, do some housework for an hour and then go cycling with no breakfast, and then maybe a sandwich for lunch, and another bicycle ride, but by this time I really tend to go hard out.
After a good lunchtime bicycle ride, some weight training, and so on I can feel rather sick.
Once again I was advised to get an electrolyte product (I tend to forget such things over time) and I found the SIS Electrolyte product in Image 1.
According to SportsFuel:
GO Electrolyte contains a blend of an easily digestible and quick supply of carbohydrate as well as electrolytes (such as sodium) that promote optimal hydration.
A combination of energy sources and electrolytes enhance your body’s ability to absorb water during exercise, maintain your endurance performance and protect against cramp.
36 grams of carbohydrate per 500ml serving
High in sodium to promote hydration
Delivers energy and fluid fast
Contents: 1.6kg Tub
Benefits:
Both carbohydrate depletion and dehydration are two of the major causes of fatigue in endurance exercise. A common mistake made by endurance athletes is to consume too much or too little carbohydrate at inappropriate concentrations, causing lack of carbohydrate absorption or gastrointestinal problems.
In addition to ensuring optimal carbohydrate stores and hydration status before exercise, delivering additional carbohydrate and fluid during exercise is known to improve performance, race times and delay the onset of fatigue. The specific formulation of SiS GO Electrolyte represents a strategic approach to offset the negative effects of carbohydrate depletion and dehydration on your performance.
Suitable For: Vegans, Vegetarians, Lactose free, Gluten Free, Wheat Free, Nut Free, Soya Free.
If I take a small drink in the morning of SIS Go Electrolyte I find that the sick feeling is gone and I can enjoy a real satisfying workout. The taste is pleasant and that helps as well 🙂
As you can see in the photo I got the big container.
This was sealed to keep it fresh and has a spoon within which is very useful for putting the right measured amounts in your drinking glass.
I think that the main reason that I was feeling unwell was because I was not eating before cycling, but I tend to get “stitch” and tummy aches if I get an hour or so before exercising.
The SIS Go Electrolyte has solved that problem and I can cycle and then eat later in the day feeling fine.
It is not cheap, but it is useful and does the job, so I think this is worth trying if you exercise a lot.
All the best from
