  • God is Love

I remember years ago going into a home and the mother and the 4 children were rolling marijuana in tinfoil to sell.

 
I was horrified and very disappointed in her actions and the fact that she thought that she wasn’t doing anything wrong. The boys were all happy to be helping Mum and they all felt useful. If we are taught wrong as a child we will grow to believe that the wrong is right, we will be convinced, and we will defend our parents and believe in them. All 4 boys are now leading bad lives and are unhappy as young adults. If they don’t change they will teach what they learned from their parents to their own children, and the cycle will continue.
 
We all want to desperately believe that our parents are good decent people and if Mum or Dad say that such and such an action or event is right then it must be. We want to feel special, and if we are special then our parents are special too. Nobody wants to believe that their parents are bad people and we will defend our parents when people say that our parents are bad. Even when good people come to our aid to help us.
 
Have you ever seen a gang members rough defiant child and said, “A chip off the old block.” or “Losers like their parents.”
The child is only trying to adapt to a terrible situation and do the best that it can do.
 
The child needs sympathy, kindness, love and our mercy.
It is a heart breaker for many of us when we go to people and try to lead them away from the haunting life that they live only to have the child call you a “goody goody.” or “Bible basher”, and really you want to help them so much. Most Bible Bashers came from appalling lifestyles and have gone from wrong to right and want to share their testimony and let people know that they don’t have to live the way that they are living and that God can help them. Its all about “been there and done that!”. There is much in the Bible about helping people and being good and holy.
 
They need to break the cycle or else they will just continue to pass on the badness that they were taught by their own mother.
We all have opportunities and chances in life. We all have choices. But we cannot ever say that “we didn’t know” if we have been shown a way to get away from the torment of our own miserable life and tormenting our own children’s lives with our mistakes and bad behaviour or addictions. We must Break The Cycle and do it effectively and totally. And if we need help, then we should get it.
 
And us Christian should all be like Christ, meek, humble good and willing to help those lost in the world and bring them some good old fashioned love and care. And for the non-believers who wonder about their friends running to Christianity, well its because they have found love and they came from bad homes or even nice homes where love didn’t live. We Christians need to listen care, encourage and understand.
