A suggested way to remove smell from your clothes when you are washing them in a  washing machine is using Hydrogen Peroxide.

I use Hydrogen Peroxide 3% that is Food grade.
Formula: H₂O_2.

Directions:
Mix a half a cup of Hydrogen Peroxide 3% with a half a cup of White Vinegar.

When the washing machine has clothes in it, and enough water inside for the wash, add this mixture and let the machine mix it in, now turn off the machine or pause the cycle for about 15 minutes for it to soak.
You can use hot water for this, but I just use cold water and it seems to work fine.

After the 15 minutes is up continue washing the clothes as you would normally do.

Your clothes should smell better.
