I have always been a MS Windows user and have veered away from Apple products, often due to the pricing and their being unfamiliar to me.
Recently due to my wanting to do tablet art I bought an iPad and have become very impressed with it, although there are somethings I dislike.
Mostly I like it though and take it with me often to draw with.

The pencil is expensive, and as with most Apple products way overpriced, but if you want to draw on an iPad you need the genuine pen and not the cheaper substitutes. The cheap pens just cannot do all that the genuine Apple pencil can.

There are many sizes of iPads, I got the 10.9 screen 10th generation.

Thats another thing about the iPad, there are many past version and generations and it takes a bit of study, watching videos on YouTube to finally figure it all out and what pencil goes with what iPad. Its all rather confusing, so please, do your homework if you want the iPad for a certain thing.

The iPad comes with the iPad Operating System iPadOS  and you can run the usual Applications like YouTube and your favourite drawing programs, some software is free and some you pay for.

Apple Pencil Prices in New Zealand.

In the image above (14-2-2023) you can see the very high prices in New Zealand for the genuine Apple Pencil and a cheap $59 Stylus Pen for the iPad. The cheap ones don’t measure up, and theya re tempting if you are on a budget, but take my word for it they are not worth it, and many others state the same thing.

The images above show the 1st Generation Apple Pencil that I bought for my iPad 10th Generation unit.
I very much enjoy using the pencil and it has surprisingly many uses as well as drawing. One drawing advantage is that you can tilt as you sketch and the pencil acts as a pencil really would for shading purposes, and you can adjust it as well.

The pencil comes with the cable and adapter to plug it into the iPad to charge it, and charging is fast and lasts for a surprisingly long time considering that the battery within must be small.

The image above shows the iPad protective case I bought. This was due to the tablet, like all tablets, felt unsafe without a strong case to protect the unit.

It came with a shoulder strap (which I have somehow slot), a nice place to put your hand at the back of the case to hold the iPad for when you are working on it, and a strong rubbery surround and back to protect the iPad if you drop it.
