POW Camps.

I get great confidence from the people in prisoner of war camps in the Second World War who never lost their enthusiasm and desire for life even in hard times.

They learned how to stand strong against a miserable time. They were treated badly, abused and used. But they hung on to hope and dreams. Those against Hitler always new that their own side would win. It wasn’t about whether they would make it out alive, it was about motivating others, doing what was right, and putting in their own best effort while they are alive.

And that inspires me. I remind myself in these tough times that history has some amazing examples of humans who “did the right thing”, because that was “the right thing to do”.

I remind myself that we are all examples to other people, and we should always be aware of this.
We need to be responsible and desire to be a good example for other people.

So I try harder, and I desire to be a good example. I want to see other peoples lives lifted from contact with me. I desire to inspire hope, to get people to see the other side of the coin, a better way, a better life, and always looking for opportunities and possibilities.

For every struggle we have been through, and every mistake and fall, we know that the only way things are going to get better is by a positive mind, and a desire to succeed, just like the way they thought in the Prisoner of War camps.

The grey cloud of depression is what causes a person to lose site of possibilities that can change their own life for the better. Depression gives a person a day of misery and of seeing no hope in life.

But we must know that depression is a lie. We have hope, it can get better, we have many positive things to be grateful for, and there is so much for you and I to do that will improve our own lives.

A good thing to do is to break the depression thoughts as soon as they happen, or as soon as you notice them. Then refocus your day on something else, something more positively hopeful and even fun.

I learned that to constantly tell myself that things are bad, then I was affirming that things won’t get better, and that they will stay negative and a struggle.

So the negative mental talk needs to be booted out just as we should remove negative people from our lives.

Please don’t allow your own mind to entertain loser thoughts and negative feelings.

We don’t want to sit down and watch a miserable movie, and we shouldn’t allow our own mind to freely create miserable outcomes to positive opportunities. We shouldn’t allow our own mind to defeat our day with self-destructive thoughts and miserable affirmations

If we keep our mind, beliefs and desires decent, and we desire to “do the right thing, because it needs doing by someone” then we have a far greater chance of success.

Please think of opportunities, be positive, and do the very best that you can do.

All the best from
James M Sandbrook.
