Battery Operated Chainsaws.

I wanted a 40 volt chainsaw but couldn’t get the one I wanted so I got an 18 volt Nordic chainsaw and I must admit to being surprised at its ability to cut. It does a very good job. I have only had it one day but I have cut up many branches. I wanted a battery operated chainsaw because I dislike two-stroke gear. It cost me $73.90 including GST.

With the battery operated items I use they have some connection with other gear I use, such as the Nordic nail gun I have uses the same battery as the Nordic chainsaw. The bar is 203mm/8 inches.

The Battery was not included but since I already had the nail gun I was all good for that as the battery fits both.

The bar is small but it still does a great job of digging in and cutting away at the branches.  The biggest I cut was around 20 to 25 cm and the Nordic had no trouble.  I did not overdue the pressure and just let it cut away in its time, but if I used a hand saw it would have taken a lot longer.

All in all I am pleasantly pleased with the little chainsaw. Its very good for the small jobs  around the home.

Below is some of the wood I cut on the first day of owning this chainsaw.

This original article was written back in 8/10/2020, it is now 28/10/2021 and using the same Nordic chainsaw my neighbour and I spend about 2 hours yesterday cutting branches off trees, clearing, pruning and so on, and even cut some large branches and the chainsaw came through it all like a trouper, with no issues.

Personally I prefer the battery operated chainsaws and am looking at buying a new double-battery chainsaw soon. I will write a review about that when I get it.

All the best from
James M Sandbrook.
