I bought one of these about a year ago and forgot all about it. About a week ago I found it and installed in on my back door and have been very surprised at its efficiency.
What it is, is two rectangles of mesh that are installed around the door frame with small Velcro strips.
The middle of the mesh all the way down has small rectangle magnets that holds both sides together so that no insects can get in.
As a shift worker in Summertime I need to sleep during the daytime. And when it is hot I like to leave the back door open to cool the house down, but every now and then a fly or bee will come in and wake me up and I will have to get it out again. But with the Magnetic Door Screen this does not happen.
When you approach the screen you just push and it comes apart and then it clicks back together behind you.
The screens for my door were bigger than the door so I just folded it over.
I used the Velcro on one side but decided to experiment with my brad gun and a long thin piece of wood and that holds the other side easily and efficiently. So if you don’t want to use the Velcro strips you can use thin wood strips to hod the door in place.
With the Magnetic Door Screen I got some push-pins to use instead of the Velcro strips – these are helpful when lining it all up before you put the Velcro strips in place.
I assume that this is a temporary solution compared to a real screen door, but it is very effective. I would probably take it down in the Wintertime and put it back up next Spring. I also use it at night and leave the door open and no moths get in. Before the Magnetic Screen Door was in place I could not leave the door open because so many moths would get into the kitchen.
Mine cost me $9.99 at the local dollar store.
