Seems like there are two ways that a person can get therapy.

 One is to be convinced that society is fine and good for you. And then you are taught to go back to the people and life that caused your reason to get therapy in the first place. You will be a nicer person from learning from the past, but you will be in the same company that ruined your life in the first place. This, in time, will distress you all over again.

Or you can reject society as it is because you know what damage it did to your past. You are wiser now, and you reject this modern therapy because you know the dangers of going back to the society that harmed you in the first place
°
Any therapy that will put you back in danger is obviously not to be trusted.
°
The secret is to find people of like mind who think like you, want to be like you, and will love you.
