This is a mechanical sewing machine, not one with an electronic LCD or digital display and so on. My first impressions are very good. Once out of the box, as we can see in the photo below, the sewing machine is in plastic.

Stitches
The Stitches Dial.
First Impressions. At first I struggled a bit with the various dials trying to get the sewing settings right and the tension set. To get some idea I looked at the settings that they used on the Instructional DVD and with the Instruction Book I figured it out for the Straight Stitch and took up the trouser legs on my new work trousers. The whole sewing process went easy, no problems at all.
The machine works smoother and sounds quieter than my Brother JA1450NT. Overall the upgrade to the GS2700 like a nice upgrade until I get a electronic Sewing machine in the future.
My needs are basic and this sewing machine suits me fine for now.
