Moulding/Trims Advice

A Trim/Moulding of wood can be made from a plank.
One just measures out the size and length and then cuts it on the Table Saw.
But if you want to shape the Trim as so many are shaped to add style to a house or to a job we are doing, there are some considerations to think about such as they are much easier to break when so thin.

In the past in my eagerness to get the Trim cut I cut it first then try to shape it with a router, electric sander and the like. This can be very difficult and even dangerous if the work breaks or we slip with a power tool.

Before you cut the Trim put it in a vice then shape the trim, sand it and so on, so that you can have a firm hold of the work and there is much less chance of breaking it while working on it. Then cut it to size.

It is much easier to work with the wood while it is still part of the larger plank than as a small long thin trim.
