Use Car Bond/Filler.

I have no photos for this one, so I am just going to share the idea.
My mother lived in a State House about 20 years ago and one day someone broke a Kitchen Cupboard Door.

A big slither had come off the front of the cupboard and I was at that time working on a car, body sanding, welding, repairing and painting and so on. The idea popped into my head to use some Auto Body Filler that I had plenty of.

So I went around my mothers and spent a few days forming, shaping and sanding. When the Auto Body Filler gets fir you can slice of pieces to shape it how you want. Experiment. When the Auto Body Filler is hard you can re-drill holes etc. I am not sure if the brand makes any difference to quality.

I am going by memory, the door shown in Image 1 shows the damaged area which I built out.
First I nailed some small nails into the wood on the broken edge to give the bond some strength, and something for the bond material to hold on to.

Then as each application dried, I sanded, shaped and then applied more of the bond until it was the exact same shape as the other doors.

Some years later the Government got the carpenters and painters in and my mother showed them the cupboard and they said it was excellent and they would just sand it lightly and repaint it. They said that it was a good fix and repair job.

All the best from
James M Sandbrook.
