Two Frogs Fall Into A Pit!
There was a large group of frogs travelling across a forest in search of a pond.
Their old pond had dried up due to the Summer weather, and they wanted a change of view anyway, so with their belongings they happily trooped off to find a new home and maybe some adventure.
While hopping around from place to place and not finding a suitable pond to their liking, two of the frogs accidentally fell into a deep pit. The other frogs shocked gather around the pit and express their concern over the situation.
They want to offer encouragement but they all admit that the situation does not look good for the two frogs, so at first they offer encouragement and the two frogs try to get out with hope in their little hearts.
As time goes by though watching the two frogs trying to jump out of the deep pit, the other frogs feeling that the efforts of the trapped frogs was hopeless and that they should save their energy discourage them by saying how impossible it is to jump out and that they had might as well give up and let it go as there was no way that they could escape the pit.
The frogs in the pit ignore the de-motivating words of the other frogs and keep trying to get out of the pit.
They try very hard and put in a good effort to get out, but they are getting tired, and while they are trying to get to safety the frogs watching from the top of the hole are telling them to give up.
Eventually, tired and feeling that the situation was hopeless one of the two frogs is influenced by the other frogs and dies as it gives up on the struggle to come out of the pit. The other frog seeing his friend die of exhaustion and because he had given up hope tried even harder and harder to get out because he didn’t want to die that way in that pit, he continues to jump as hard as he can.
He looked up and saw the waving, shouting, and wild enthusiasm from above and used all his effort to get free.
He couldn’t hear them but he was sure that their enthusiasm was because they supported him.
After an amazing immense struggle, the determined stubborn frog finally comes out of the pit alive.
Other frogs are surprised and ask how it managed to come up in spite of them telling it to give up.
The frog explains with sign language that he is deaf and assumed that everyone was cheering for him to get out, and that gave the frog the added determination to make it.
Moral of the story:
People’s words have a significant impact on our lives.
While we can listen to others, it is ourselves that determine what we can and can’t do.
