Tip for Leads Identification.

The personal computer is what I have owned the most. Got a Amstrad PC back in 1991. It had probably 20 Megabytes of hard drive space, a 286 Microprocessor, 16 bit. It had limited colour, limited graphics, worked on the DOS Operating System, but to me it was amazing. From there I went on to a 386 PC and taught myself how to write software then teach people worldwide and sell my own software, also I had my own computer company and was a technician.
With enthusiasm I will add pages here about various subjects connected with computer programming. I hope you find them interesting and helpful. Below are some Computing Tips.

Tips

Before you make any changes on your hard drive, like deleting or moving files, or changes to software files, make backups.

Simply just copying them to a CD, DVD, or another Hard Drive, or Cloud etc, will do. It can be easy to make a mistake and lose your data, so having a backup two is an excellent idea.

When I was fixing people’s computers one of the things I would do is write my own software to test the computers.

My software was always small and fast, unlike the big software giants like Microsoft.

I would often install the software on the clients computer and then instead of deleting it and reinstalling it when I needed to come back and work on the computer I would just change the .exe to .baq or another extension like .jms, and the file could be Disply.exe and I would change it to Disply.jms and no one who went on the computer would have a clue what a .jms file was.

When I got back to the computer to do additional work I would just change the executable's extension back to .exe again and use it.

Please be aware that when you let another person look at yoru PC, all yur past computing history and fiels are on yur computer stored away safely, but they can be assessed b someone “fixing yur PC” for you.

I was horrified to meet a man who would fix computers, take out the fast DVD drives etc and then replace them with slower one and leave the faceplate on it making it look to the user like they still had a fast DVD drive.

It may seem like a good idea to get a mate or someone else access to your computer, but they can steal stuff of it and sell it to others, so please be aware of this.

Another sneaky trick was offering to fix someone’s PC for money, but much lower than the shops, and then asking for all the passwords and the like for the PC and installation disks.
Often these Computer-Cowboys would say that the computer can’t be fixed so they would have to wipe the hard drive and reinstall all the software, and to do this they need all the installation disks of all the software that you have bought for lots of money and then the passwords, Product keys etc and then make copies of the installation discs and keep a list with all the passwords and Product Keys and then in the future sell them to other people, or sell computers with your software on them making out to the new owner that they had new software.

Your best bet is to go to only someone you can totally trust or a shop for repairs and work done on your computer or learn hw to do it yourself like I have.
