Freya Stark - Explorer

Freya travelled all over the Arab world and she wrote many books about her travels.

Freya who was born in Britain in 1892, spent some of her childhood in the Alps in northern Italy, later she joined her father in Canada, he had a fruit farm. Freya wanted to go to the Middle East and she spent over 30 years travelling in that area.

She wrote many books about her travels.

During many of Freya's journeys many exiting things happened. In 1929, Freya travelled to Baghdad in Iraq, from that city she was to make most of her journeys over the next 30 years. In 1932 she was the sub-editor on the Baghdad Times, at this time also published her first book, Baghdad Sketches.

She liked taking photographs.
