Haberdashery

When I went to town today 9/10/2020) I wanted to buy some sewing machine needles and the woman  told me that the  haberdasheries where now in a different shop just up the road.

So when I got home I Googled  haberdasheries and got this:

noun

noun: haberdashery

   1.

   British

small items used in sewing, such as buttons, zips, and thread.

a shop or a department within a larger store that sells items used in sewing.

       plural noun: haberdasheries

   2.

   North American

   men's clothing and accessories.

So I can assume that here in New Zealand it means small items used in sewing.
