Morality

Morality (from Latin: moralitas, lit. 'manner, character, proper behaviour) is the differentiation of intentions, decisions and actions between those that are distinguished as proper and those that are improper. Morality can be a body of standards or principles derived from a code of conduct from a particular philosophy, religion or culture, or it can derive from a standard that a person believes should be universal. Morality may also be specifically synonymous with "goodness" or "rightness". - Wikipedia.

Moral Values are sometimes called spoilers, or are boring.

Some people feel that they stop people enjoying themselves and that they make life boring.

Whilst on the other hand some people feel that it is due to the lack of moral values in high places such as in politics, science and business, that this is the reason why the world is in such disarray, unlawfulness and the reason why there is little respect for others.

Mature people see value in Moral Values because they create structure of good living within the souls that are taught that way.

This can be the opposite to the thinking of political people and such that prefer to sell “anything” for money, fame and personal gains.

Science without moral values has no guidelines to respect life, people, the environment.

Religion that has little moral values is a creation for money, personal gain for the leaders while the congregations remain struggling and poor.

A moral can be a lesson that can have an important meaning from a story or experience.

“The moral to the story is…”

Morals can be seen as good standards to live by, respectful behaviour, politeness, respecting other people, what they own, how they live, what they think etc.

Morals in Society by YourDictionary.

Is there really a standard moral code in society these days?

Yes, while most people follow society's laws, they also abide by certain social mores, which are governed by morals.

While morals tend to be driven by personal beliefs and values, there are certainly some common morals that most people agree on, such as:

The Ten Commandments are often considered the basis for societies founded on Judeo-Christian principles.

You'll notice some overlap with the list above, as many of these principles are still embedded in general society.

Aesop's Fables

The most prolific source of moral lessons in literature is Aesop's Fables. Let's see some of the teachings that lie within these popular tales:

It seems that under Godly thinking that all of society follows one set of rules, but under non-religion everyone gets to choose what they consider as moral values according to their opinions, upbringing, life.

In Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus Finch is a white man defending a black man named Tom Robinson.

Finch has his moral values that tell his heart to defend anyone regardless of colour, but the general public of the time could have fully believed that they had good moral values and wanted the dark skinned man condemned and killed according to the not liking dark skinned people.

Many people are aware that many of the old good moral standards have been dropped and ignored for the new opinions for the sake of sales, business, what they call progress, and fun.
