Fig 1. A tip for paintbrushes is to only dip the brush in halfway up the bristles.
This helps keep the brush clean, and its easier to clean up later. Also in the older
brush types it is said that keeping moisture out of the top where the bristles start
stops rot, like for wooden handles.
Fig 2. You can use the lid of the paint can to
catch any drips from the brush when you move it to the work you are painting.
• Always
go over the work that you have just painted and check for drips a minute or so later.
Drips can make the painted wood look like the painter did a sloppy job.
• There are water based Enamel Paints now. These can look as good as oil based enamel paints, but you don’t need turpentine to clean the brushes up later on.
• Before you open the can of paint always clean off the lid. Dust can get into the paint once you have lifted the paint ruining the paint. So do be careful.
