Just a quick tip about installing a gearbox in a Cortina.
A few things went wrong with my Cortina’s, I had a few of these excellent cars.
I
took the input shaft out of a spare Cortina gearbox and used that to help line up
the clutch when installing a gearbox. First set up the clutch pressure plate assembly,
then I would put the spare input shaft in first to straighten it all up, and then
take it out and put the gearbox in and it would fit in without hassles.
This may not seem like a big issue, but I found that when I didn’t have a input shaft to straighten things out first I would have lots of hassles getting the gearbox into place.
