The movie about the band leader Glenn Miller who rose to fame and enchanted people all around the world with his sound, the music he wanted to make, also some touching, happy and sad scenes of Glenn and his lovely wife Helen Burger, played by actress June Allyson.

James Stewart plays a convincing very likable Glenn Miller, yet he never got the hang of playing the trombone.

Glenn Miller was an American music arranger, composer, trombonist and bandleader during the Swing era.

The movie starts off with James Stewart and Henry Morgan, both play their parts very well and compliment the others with their usual flair and style.

This has been a favourite movie for me for many years when I got to see it after buying it on DVD.

The music is of an era that is for many lost in time, but for people like myself who enjoys all era’s of music Glenn Miller music is a refreshing change from time to time from modern music. All my children like Glenn miller’s music.

Glenn was looking for “that sound”, a sound that he knew existed for him. A sound that he knew would be liked by the world, he just had to find it. He got comfortable making money and then married Helen, and life was good. Then one day she reminded him of his dream, and she told him that she was disappointed in Glenn, she wanted him to reach for the stars and find that sound.

Many musical people are looking for a sound that is like a signature, a sound that defines that person, and then when their music comes on the radio people will say, “Hey, that Glenn Miller!”

Brian Wilson was the same. He was looking for the Wall of Sound and he got a defined sound that is recognized worldwide as his music.

Glen Miller found his sound that people associate with only him.

I guess many people are looking for that special idea that will make them stand out, something that people will always attach to their name.

This movie is a musical biography of the life of a man who made millions of people very happy with his musical genius and style.

The music is performed by the Glenn Miller orchestra, and there are musical appearances Louis Armstrong, Glen Krupa, The Modernaires, and Frances Langford.

A charming, delightful, biography of a talented man.

The end is very touching.
