It seems that the world has fallen out of love with cursive writing.
I taught my children cursive writing, write like that myself from time to time, in work reports etc.
Being neat is important, but I think that if the written word is readable how it is done is irrelevant, not important.
Also children need to learn how to read cursive writing in case as an adult they
may come across papers written in such a way and need to read it.
The only reason
that young people struggle with floor-change gear box driving is that they are not
taught it, as so many cars today are automatic gearboxes.
My take on this is to teach cursive writing because it may be useful in the child’s life in the future, and as things go, it may come back in style and be seen as artistic and a classic way to write with flair and style.
Below is some of my daughter Tracy’s work back in 2001 as a cursive writing example when she was still homeschooled, before she went to High School.
