Pressure Foot Lever Not Clicking into Place.

I went to use the sewing machine to sew up a pocket on my work Hi-Vis and the Pressure Foot Lever would not stay up in place. Image 1 and Image 2 show the Pressure Foot Lever. This ended up being one of those hit and miss and achieve projects. Sometimes when we are working on an ATM, computer, or some mechanical or electric machinery and it works and you are not sure exactly what you did to make it work.

This is one of those cases, but I will share what I did.

Image 3 shows us two shafts with springs on them.

Both have arrows pointing to them.

What I did was move them up and down and the Pressure Foot Lever suddenly clicked into place and stayed up.

Since then I have used the sewing machine and the Pressure Foot Lever has worked perfectly each time.

My guess is that somehow the Pressure Foot Lever was not hitting that “sweet spot” and clicking into place and the manipulation of the “works” found he right spot and it all just clicked back into place.

I was just happy it was working again so I carefully put the sewing machine back together and it all works fine.

The sad fact of today is that the mixture of many plastic parts and many metal parts has the plastic parts wearing out far sooner than they should do and causing an uneven balance in the machine. This could have had some effect or it was simply something had slipepd out of place and is now happily back in place working as it should do.

So that is my adventure. If it happens again I will do an update, hopefully I will find out more.
