Mixing Projects and Written Work


When we did a project I took it on like a business would.

To teach Jimmy about the Fulcrum we did experiments, used tools, made a homemade seesaw, and then he wrote about it. We were actually doing a study on Levers, their uses, how to make them for various applications, draw them, explain them, and use them when we needed a lever.


By reading about a subject, talking about its uses, doing experiments, then drawing and writing (making a report) about the subject, all combined leaves a pretty decent memory in the child’s mind that he or she should be able to recall as an adult.


I, as a Homeschooling teacher, was always looking for ways to set the information in the child's mind in such a way that as an adult the child could recall the lesson, what was learned and so on. Below is an example of Jimmy’s work on Fulcrum’s.
