"I Did It Because I Love You!" One of the classic lies from the narcissist when caught out lying.

Or, "I had to mislead you for your own good."

In the end their abuse of their victim ending comes down to how long the victim will take to finally realize that it is over, has been over for a long time, and that the person who they thought loves them doesn't.

I remember one of my ex's saying that she omitted the truth because she didn't want to see me get hurt. What she was talking about was that my best friend was visiting her behind my back.

If they lie, there is only one real reason, to deceive.
