Oxford languages states that “disorder” is ‘a state of confusion.’
Wikipedia - ‘non-order, or no intelligible pattern.’
An illness that disrupts normal physical or mental functions. - Oxford English Dictionary.
Personality disorder could be said to be a personality in a state of confusion.
Mayo Clinic:
Overview
Narcissistic personality disorder — one of several types of personality disorders — is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence lies a fragile self-esteem that's vulnerable to the slightest criticism.
A narcissistic personality disorder causes problems in many areas of life, such as relationships, work, school or financial affairs. People with narcissistic personality disorder may be generally unhappy and disappointed when they're not given the special favors or admiration they believe they deserve. They may find their relationships unfulfilling, and others may not enjoy being around them.
Help Guide says this:
It’s more accurate to say that people with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) are in love with an idealized, grandiose image of themselves. And they’re in love with this inflated self-image precisely because it allows them to avoid deep feelings of insecurity. But propping up their delusions of grandeur takes a lot of work—and that’s where the dysfunctional attitudes and behaviours come in.
People with narcissistic personality disorder are extremely resistant to changing their behavior, even when it’s causing them problems. Their tendency is to turn the blame on to others. What’s more, they are extremely sensitive and react badly to even the slightest criticisms, disagreements, or perceived slights, which they view as personal attacks. For the people in the narcissist’s life, it’s often easier just to go along with their demands to avoid the coldness and rages. However, by understanding more about narcissistic personality disorder, you can spot the narcissists in your life, protect yourself from their power plays, and establish healthier boundaries.
The narcissists tends to see their lack of sympathy, coldness, arrogance as signs that they are stronger,, more capable, and better than loving people. To the narcissist a compassionate soul is weak, and so taking advantage of a nice person is simply taking what the weak person is willing to give.
The narcissist thinking is very much dog eat dog beliefs and to get and kill the other dog first.
The true narcissist is a cultivator of human support crops.
This means that they spend their entire lifetime gathering people into their support groups and the stronger more powerful people the better.
The Narcissists Human Support Groups have completely no idea that they are part of this group as they are groomed over many years to think that they are a friend to the narcissist.
The Narcissists Human Support Groups are weapons to be pulled out should things go bad for the narcissist/s. If things do go bad then the Narcissists Human Support Groups are pulled in to become Flying Monkeys, a support group of tremendous strength and used in Character Assassinations.
The titled narcissist can form support groups in the law system, such as friendships with the Police, lawyers, and have social gatherings with them while also at the very same time doing illegal activities. Should it all go bad the law will back up their friends, after all, thats what friends are for.
The narcissist has difficulty with attachment and dependency.
All attachments, including spouse and children, friends and relatives are for personal gain.
Showing compassion, love, kindness, is simply feathering their own nest and planting seeds to be harvested in the future should the need arise.
I read that it is claimed that all politicians are narcissist of some degree simply because the politician has the belief that they can control and think for others.
Narcissists can fly off the handle at the slightest criticism, yet dish out criticism with ease and expect you to take them for their word, and heaven help you in you don’t.
Or on the other hand the narcissist can fake fears, anxiety show tears, act submissive and beaten, because they know that compassion is a reaction from good people when the good people see someone looking as if that person was in need. Being the victim, acting scared, crying, just more way to control other people and have them do their bidding.
There is another form of narcissist, the Gentle Narcissist.
This person can Play the Victim, a very common way to get multitudes of support, love, friendships and care,
Playing the Victim is a very powerful weapon and the narcissist can get sympathy for many years playing the victim. When the narcissist plays the victim she touches the hearts of others and they all surround love and protect her.
In a Character Assassination the narcissist can, without any evidence, play the victim, to get people to frolic to their aid and to hate the supposed person who is making the narcissist a victim.
By playing the victim the other person appears to be a horrible person and due to fears created by the narcissist of the other person the Flying Monkeys and those who support the narcissist will refuse to get the innocent person’s version of events.
The narcissist knows that if the Flying Monkey and devout followers of the narcissist/s hate or fear the victim then they will never approach the victim and ask what happened from that person’s point of view, thus ensuring that the Flying Monkeys etc only get one side of the story.
I have never known a narcissist to know that they are a narcissist.
You could explain very clearly to a narcissist what a narcissist is and they would tell you how they have noticed it in other people, they would claim that the likes of Trump is a narcissist, but in no way or sense do they get any inclination that they are a narcissist themselves or that they have any of the issues that they claim Trump has themselves.
My belief is that narcissism is a result of modern materialism. Our society these days is so heavily based on money, material, gain, selfishness, titles etc that compassion is failing and parents are often not there for their children in the maternal sense. A dysfunctional society can only make dysfunctional people, people with mental issues, thus explaining the huge rise in mental illness alongside the more beliefs in Atheism and materialism as the way to live.
Keeping Up Appearances.
Narcissists know that what people will see they will believe,
so the narcissist/s keep up a good wholesome well liked appearance of being good
decent folk that all communities see as pillars of society - the exact opposite to
their true nature.
It is the keeping up of appearances that keeps the townsfolk thinking very well of the narcissists and has them not even considering their guilt, abuse of their own families, and children.
The troops of the narcissist are other narcissist friends and Flying Monkeys.
Talk to a Flying Monkey in any way that even hints at the devious nature of the narcissist and the Flying Monkeys refuse to see the light, much like the narcissist refuses to see that they are narcissists.
This could be because although good people, maybe the Flying Monkeys are to some degree narcissists themselves and remain blind to their own failings and that makes them much more easier for the narcissists to fool them and reel them in to do the narcissists work.
This is just a brief run down on narcissism and the narcissist.
If in doubt get the facts, and always, always, get both ides of the story.
It is good people not investigating and not getting both sides of the story that
enables the narcissist to be abusers of children and innocent people, and allows
Character Assassination and narcissism to continue.
Please make an honest difference
by helping to break these nasty cycles.
