Forward/Backward Needle Alignment.
I have looked on the Internet for some sort of confirmation about this, but found nothing.
Above the needle unit you will see a hole in the body of the sewing machine where the arrow is pointing.
This has a screw in it, and if you insert a screwdriver and turn that screw it will move the needle forward and backwards, not sideways.
As far as I can tell this screw is for if the needle somehow gets out of alignment.
The whole needle unit moves when the screw is moved. If it is moved too far then the needle will strike the steel plate because it has missed the hole.
So if your needles does come out of alignment this should fix it.
