Cheap and Simple Throwaway Dog and Cat Dish Lid.

Here is a cheap easy way to make a lid to cover the cat and dog dish cover.

Its for those times that the dog and cat don’t eat all their dinner and the flies decide that they want some, and that makes the animal food leftovers gross.

Image 1

Just get some cardboard from a box, and cut it into a circle big enough for the animal dish - you can trace around the dish in question if you want for accuracy as I am doing here in Image 1.

In Image 2 I added a piece of cardboard doubled over and stapled to the lid for the dog to grab and pull of should she be hungry. I just got to teach her to put it back now.

I had two cats and sometimes I would cut a circle of newspaper and put it over their eating dish to keep insects off, and one, the ginger one Mr Kittu, would pull of the newspaper circle and eat the food, the other one, The Phantom would just stare at it and meow because he couldn’t figure out how to pull the lid off.

Some animals get it and some don’t.

These cardboard lids can be thrown in the compost or rubbish bag when they get dirty and it is quick and easy to make another one, and also uses up your cardboard that you were going to just throw away anyway.

A good chore for the children methinks ;-) If you are conscious of what other people may think you can clean up the edges, paint the lid, etc.

This is not a fancy idea, but it is a practical idea.
