Thunderbirds are Go - The Movie!

When my children were small and even teenagers, when a Thunderbirds puppet movie went into the DVD player everyone sat down excited to watch it. All of us liked watching Thunderbirds movies, the creations of Gary and Sylvia Anderson.

The movie is Supermarionation in Technicolor, is about the amazing launch of the Zero X, a space vehicle planned to go to Mars. The first attempt was stopped by the Thunderbirds crew’s arch enemy, The Hood, will the second attempt get away?

The Anderson’s made puppetry into an art, and got to blow up with their crew many sets, and puppet vehicles. I read that they never had an accident on set from the explosives and wrecks that the often caused to make the TV series and movies so exciting and adventurous.

This movie is as exciting and well done as all the others were before it.

For children and adults alike this is an exciting thrilling adventure

The story is about the Tracy family who live in a secret location, an island, where they store most of their amazing rescue craft that is always on standby in the state of readiness for another adventurous rescue mission.

Helping them is the delightful Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward and her ex-criminal butler Parker.

Parkers rough and tumble past comes in handy on their missions from time to time as they get into awkward situations and often need to find ways to get themselves out of trouble as they go on missions for International Rescue.

There is a nifty part about right smack dab in the middle of the movie where Alan, stuck home back at base while his brothers groove it up at the Swinging Star nightclub, has a dream, and while he and Lady Penelope are dining at the table the focus goes on to the group playing the music and lo and behold it is The Shadows, with Hank Marvin on lead guitar dishing out another marvellous tune, simply fabulous.

Of course the next act has to be Cliff, well, actually Cliff Richard Junior.

There are some mars surprises as well.

The writers and especially the designers of the puppets and equipment use their imaginations and constantly come up with very exciting episodes and movies.

Of course nothing is too hard or difficult for the brave members of the Tracy family, Tin Tin, Lady Penelope and her butler Parker.

All the best from
