Time Will Tell
In time we will know what is what. With the passing of time we will know what is true and what is false.
We meet someone, want the best for that person, maybe even fall in love with that person. Not see that person for some years and in horror find out that this person who we thought so much of is saying very bad things about us, possibly false accusations and the like, and you realise that time showed you the true character of this person, and it was all poison.
Used to say that the truth or a result will only be known in the future after events have happened - Cambridge Dictionary.
“Time discovers truth.” - Lucius Annaeus Seneca.
“Only time will tell whether Jacks stories are true.”
“Only time will tell whether Mary’s positive view is justified.”
“I thought that she loved me, but time has showed me that the opposite is true. Jade said that, time will tell, and she was right.”
“The government’s policies look good at the moment, but time will tell if they were worth the effort.”
