WALL-E

2008

G - 1 hour 38 minutes -  Animation, Adventure, Family viewing.

Something in the human heart for some reason adores the thought of some cute robot having the ability to think, hurt, have feelings, and especially fall in love.

WALL-E is that character, er, I mean that robot.

Small, cute, chubby and adorable is the hard working robot, the last of his kind, left on the planet to clean up the rubbish the results of many years of blind commercialism, people buying so much that in the end the planet became unsafe and toxic.

People leave on the starship Axiom and travel in space while WALL-E and his fellow robots clean up the planet.

A robot, from the Axiom, arrives on Earth to look for evidence of life and improvement, and WALL-E who watches videos of romance and love falls head over heels for Eve who is in robot terms a picture of robotic perfection, clean, tidy, neat and new, all the things  that our hero WALL-E is not. Everything about Eve, from her modern looks to her speed, ability to fly, and being quick on the draw, totally captures WALL-E’s imagination as the perfect love.

There is this part when Eve loses her temper and blasts a ship which results in other ships being destroyed and while she watches the ships burning WALL-E shyly sidles up to her and and she asks him in many languages what his directive is, and in the course of the communication between the two she says WALL-E’s name and his heart melts when she says his name in her feminine voice. Its a cute moment that I thought was touching, and it is at this point she finally shows some emotion herself.

WALL-E has a vry impressive home filled with the junk that he has collected over the years.
When he takes EVE there during a storm they have much fun as she tries to figure it all out.

Eve goes into hibernation mode when WALL-E  gives her a plant in a shoe and things get real exciting.

They end up in outer space, but thats for you to find out if you watch this adorable movie about a hero who does not want to be a hero, he just wants to be in love and spend the rest of his robotic life with his Eve.

The thing that is so captivating about WALL-E is that he is so cute and innocent.
