Many of us have what I call a Rough Edge to our character that is a result of our upbringing, TV, movies and a desire to fit in with others, to not be left out.

The rough edge is the part of our nature that uses bad language or tells rude, or distasteful jokes, says shocking things to get attention, things like that. People can become very popular by being crude, distasteful and alarming.

We in today's society seem to think this type of behaviour is acceptable, funny and it does get attention, but is it attention that will be good for us or not?
On the other hand, to some other people it makes us look rough and unlikable.

Even small comments that are rough, toxic and not worth saying, can give people an impression of us that will lead us to be not trusted or possibly even disliked. You would at some time have visited somebody and been surprised when somebody said something shocking, or distasteful, or vulgar and would not have wanted to be near that person again.

I have discovered that if we are polite, clean spoken, we are acceptable to everyone, even the rough types, even the church types, business people, all who are a part of society. Even if I used bad language I would not use it publicly or in writing because I would want what I wrote or said publicly to be accepted by everyone.

Most people like to be with other people who are like minded in action and thought.

Do your friends have a Rough Edge?

If so then we can look at ourself. It is not attractive to many.

Many people want to stay as they currently are simply because it is easier and familiar to them.

I ask you please don't let thoughts like that hold you back from becoming a new person.

Change can be a hard and scary thing to do.

But life was meant to change if you are going from a rough upbringing to a new life, and you are meant to change as you develop into a different person from when you were a child.

You can only make a positive difference in the world when you are a true living example of that positive difference that you want to see in others and working in the world!

The earth changes often, and you as an inhabitant of Earth also change with age and time.

We get the choice to the change for your better every day, we will never regret it if we try.

Make the change for the better, and be a blessing to all people that you know.

If we don't let our old self hold us back, we will move forward and remove the rough edge and be happier and more in control of our feelings, speech, and will be more mature, we will be easily understood and what we say will be considered by everyone.

My experience is that people really don't like people who show their rough edge (unless they too are like that).

It shows a great lack of respect for people if we have a rough edge and we display it in public places, or even amongst family or friends.

On Facebook one can put up images and statements to gather a few laughs and a mild amount of popularity but it isn't doing anyone any real good.

There are funny clean jokes out there, decent funny images, kind and inspirational images.

We show that we respect our family and friends when we are polite and don't put material in their faces that are disrespectful.

People can comment to post with bad language and disrespectful comments etc.

We all sometimes say things that we shouldn't or regret, this isn't about that, this is about taking away a jagged-mental-edge that we have accepted many years ago and is still with us, but that jagged edge cuts up other people with its sharp words and harsh feelings, etc.

The scars remain and only repentance and genuine regret can change this.

The change is constant and the war against the past habits and ways should be a dedicated work in progress.

We are examples that are to inspire others and to bring about positive change to the world.

The positive thing is to remove that rough edge and gain positive self control over our actions, thoughts and words.

It always takes a while for the words to go from the mind to the mouth and if we have self control we can bite on those bad thoughts and bad words and stop ourselves before it is too late.

A real want to change, dedication to catching ourself out and a love for others and ourself will get us on the right track to success.

💛
